INSTALLATION

1. What is the recommended sub floor for my Amtico and/or Spacia Floor?

ANSWER: Concrete with a minimum of 3000 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch), Underlayment Grade APA rated plywood, Jumpax Sound Reduction Underlayment, Thick pour Gypsum or light weight concrete that has a minimum 3000 PSI.

2. What kind of moisture testing is required?

ANSWER: Follow ASTM Protocols ASTM 1869 (Moisture Vapor Emission Rate using Calcium Chloride) and ASTM 2170 (Relative Humidity Using In situ Probes).

3. What moisture test results are acceptable?
ANSWER: It is not to exceed 5 lbs MVER or not to exceed 80% RH.

4. Can Amtico and/or Spacia be installed over light weight concrete (Gypsum)?

Amtico and/or Spacia can be successfully installed over Gypsum floors if the PSI rating is a minimum of 3000 PSI. A bond test is always advisable.

5. Can Amtico and/or Spacia be installed over other resilient floor coverings?

ANSWER: It is recommended that all existing flooring, including all traces of existing adhesive be removed mechanically before installing Amtico and/or Spacia. At times, this may not be possible. 6. Can Amtico and/or Spacia be installed over ceramic tile?

ANSWER: It can be done successfully if the ceramic is adhered well, primed and then a Portland self-leveling agent completely covers the ceramic tile. The sub floor can then be treated as new concrete.

7. Can Amtico and/or Spacia be installed over old adhesive?

ANSWER: It is recommended that all traces of adhesive be removed from the sub floor before installing Amtico and/or Spacia.

8. What is the recommended Moisture Suppressant System (MSS) for Amtico and/or Spacia?

ANSWER: Amtico does not recommend any MSS manufacturer. A list of competent manufacturers is updated frequently and can be requested by contacting Technical Services.

9. What adhesives should I use with Amtico and/or Spacia?

ANSWER: Amtico International sells Amtico 373, Amtico Pressure Sensitive, Amtico U2P and Amtico Tackifier. Amtico adhesives are specially formulated for the Amtico and/or Spacia tiles and planks. Other adhesives for LVT can be used, but any warranty for the Amtico and/or Spacia products would be assumed by the adhesive manufacturer.

10. What is the shelf life of the Amtico adhesives?

ANSWER: One year

11. Can I install Amtico and/or Spacia in my garage or porch?

ANSWER: Amtico and/or Spacia must be installed in areas of controlled temperatures.

12. Can Amtico and/or Spacia be installed over radiant heating systems?

ANSWER: Amtico and/or Spacia can be installed over radiant heating systems. Follow the detailed instructions in the Installation Guidelines.

13. If a repair is needed, can I reuse the tiles/planks that were previously installed?

ANSWER: It is not recommended.

MAINTENANCE

1. What is the recommended maintenance for an Amtico and/or Spacia Floor?

ANSWER: Mopping with a neutral pH cleaner and water, using the 2 bucket system is sufficient for daily maintenance. Periodic maintenance is required.

2. Does my Amtico and/or Spacia Floor need a dressing (wax)?

ANSWER: Amtico and/or Spacia products come with a urethane finish applied at the factory; therefore, no additional floor dressing is necessary.

3. Can I apply a wax to my Amtico and/or Spacia Floor?

ANSWER: Although a dressing or wax is not necessary, it can be applied without damaging the Amtico and/or Spacia flooring.

4. How often is maintenance required?

ANSWER: Each facility has different foot traffic and site conditions. The amount and style of maintenance will need to be determined for each facility. Daily sweeping and mopping is usually sufficient.

5. How do I remove scuff marks in my Amtico and/or Spacia Floor?

ANSWER: Superficial scuff marks can be removed by scrubbing with a red 3M hand pad and neutral cleaner.

6. What kind of entry mats do you recommend?

ANSWER: Entry mats should be composed of natural fibers. Rubber or latex backing can result in plasticizer migration or staining.

7. What types of chair pads are recommended?

ANSWER: Composition furniture cups, nylon wheel castors, or felt based guides.

8. How do I remove scratches from my Amtico and/or Spacia Floor?

9. Can I use an auto scrubber to clean my Amtico and/or Spacia Floor?

ANSWER: Mechanical cleaning is the preferred method of cleaning commercial floors. For basic maintenance, the use of a 3M Red scrubbing pad with neutral cleaner is recommended. 10. Can I spray buff my Amtico and/or Spacia Floor?

ANSWER: Spray buffing can be a good way to maintain Amtico and/or Spacia flooring when using a 3m Red, White or Erasure pad with a chemical manufactured for spray buffing.
